Welcome to Development Is CHILD’S PLAY’s virtual group page! Our virtual groups offer you and your family fun and exciting ways to participate in therapy-like activities and receive valuable education and information from home!

Adaptable Eats: DICP’s Free Weekly Virtual Cooking Group

Join us for snack time every Thursday morning as we cook Functional and flexible recipes that you can make using common items from your pantry. This group will be run by a speech and language pathologist and occupational therapist working on various functional skills, such as following directions, bilateral coordination, flexible thinking, and fine motor skills.

Level 1 (Thursdays 9:30-9:45 ): This group is appropriate for children who:

  • Can follow simple directions with the help of a caregiver
  • Can attend for at least 15 min with the help of a caregiver
  • Can tolerate hand over hand assistance

Level 2 (Thursdays 10:00-10:30): This group is appropriate for children who:

  • Can follow multi-step directions with or without visual or verbal cues
  • Can attend for at least 30 minutes with the help of a caregiver
  • Can handle basic kitchen tools with assistance when needed
Building Bodies: DICP’s Free Weekly Virtual Core and Vestibular Movement Group

Join DICP therapists to work on the foundational skills needed for enhancing all motor tasks. The focus will be on core strengthening, vestibular and proprioceptive processing, and self-regulation. Every week will have its own fun themes such as superheroes, space exploration, and creepy-crawly bug week!

The Baby Bunch: DICP’s Free Weekly Virtual Parent and Baby Group

Join DICP therapists for a virtual weekly group designed to enhance baby development for children 0-12 months of age and offer parental support. Every class has been carefully planned with parent and baby’s needs in mind. Learn about your baby’s primary sensory systems and their effect on development. Engage with your baby using infant massage, music, imitation, and sensory play. Work on building a strong core for both baby and caregiver through fun interactive exercises. Come join our Baby Bunch and feel free to register for one, some, or all of the four weeks.

Little Hands, Big Jobs: DICP’s Free Fine Motor Group

Little Hands, Big Jobs is a group that will focus on developing fine motor skills, strengthening hand muscles, increasing dexterity, and coordination. Little Hands, Big Jobs is designed for kids ages 3-10.

Story Time with Elephant and Piggie: DICP’s Free Weekly Virtual Story Time

Join DICP therapists as we explore Mo Willems Elephant and Piggie stories. Through these fun and engaging characters, we will practice our social skills, self-regulation, basic inferencing, auditory comprehension, gross and fine motor skills. Storytime with Elephant and Piggie is designed for children PreK to 2nd grade in mind.”

Six Weeks of Self-Regulation: A Parent Education Group

Join DICP therapists to understand the foundations of the sensory systems that contribute to self-regulation and develop tools and strategies to help your family. This group will use a variety of self-regulation programs as a guide, and we will move through a step-by-step process over the six weeks. You can attend one, some, or all of the sessions of this group, but it will be presented sequentially, so attending all six weeks is recommended.
