and culture to help therapists develop their professional
skills. We train novice therapists in learning specific intervention
techniques, as well as experienced therapists with interest
in teaching, research, or administration. We seek engaging,
playful therapists with great potential who are interested
in helping children succeed.
We look for those who yearn to be a clinic-based occupational
therapist slithering in shaving cream, swinging from the rafters,
and bouncing off the walls (and mats). Prefer therapist able
to sing and march simultaneously and chew gum without spitting
(bubble-blowing a plus).
Client diagnoses include: autistic spectrum disorders, sensory
regulatory disorders, sensory defensiveness, LD, NLD, ADHD,
chromosome disorders; primarily ages 2-10 years old. Flexible
hours are available (e.g. 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., 9:00 a.m.-6:00
p.m., based on appointments, may vary by day). If part-time,
afternoons are a priority. Excellent hourly pay with benefits
(health insurance, continuing education, paid time off, retirement
contributions after 3 years’ employment, and nonprofit donation matching).
Minimum requirements: Internship in pediatrics (or work experience)
and ability to get along with chocoholics. Must have a degree
in occupational therapy, eligible to sit for the national
exam and eligible for a California license in occupational
therapy. In-person interview required. Will consider new graduate
or OT changing area of specialty. Weekly mentoring/supervision
available for therapist with great potential. Participation
in student training, research, or administration may be available
for experienced therapist.
In addition to an excellent base pay, therapists receive additional financial
compensation for obtaining certification in the SIPT, advanced practice in swallowing,
Board Cerification in pediatrics, or providing treatments at 5pm or later or on Saturdays.
The staff at Development is CHILD'S PLAY! know how to play at work and after hours.
Birthdays, work anniversaries, and other special occasions are celebrated. Group activities
have included a tour and tasting at a winery, meals out, and an afternoon at the non-profit
fundraiser "Rivers of Chocolate."
